Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody (June 5, 1981 - March 22, 2009) is a British reality-television personality. He entered the public spotlight in the third series of the Channel-4 program at that time Big Brother in 2002, an appearance that led to his own TV program and the introduction of his product after he was expelled from the show.

In January 2007, Goody was a housemate in the fifth series of the British reality television show Celebrity Big Brother. During the show, he is accused of intimidating the race against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. After the expulsion from the show, he admitted that his actions were wrong and made a number of public apologies. In late 2007 and early 2008, opinion polls showed that Goody was not popular with the public.

In August 2008 she appeared in the Indian version of Big Brother, Bigg Boss, but left the show early and returned to England after she learned she had cervical cancer. In February 2009, the cancer had spread, and Goody was seriously ill. Goody married fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestants Jack Tweed on February 22, 2009, and died one month later, in the early hours of March 22, 2009, at the age of 27. Sky Living broadcasted five tribute shows to Goody from 2009 until 2012, documenting his life from childhood through his resurrection to fame and the last months. The last episode of Big Brother on Channel 4 featured a 15-minute award for Goody, praising him as the main contestant of Big Brother. She appeared on the cover of the latest issue of News of the World in July 2011.

At the age of 5, Goody made an unqualified appearance as an elementary school student in the 1986 London's Burning film (filmed in his hometown) which spawned a television series of the same name. Careers

2002-03: Big Brother 3

When Goody appeared in Big Brother 3, he was ridiculed by the British tabloid press for lack of general knowledge. He thought the English city of Cambridge was in London; when told that it was in East Anglia, he assumed East Anglia was outside the UK and called it "East Angula". Goody thinks that Rio de Janeiro is a person, not a city; that Portugal is part of Spain; that St. George's Cross is the flag of London, not England; that Aberdeen is not in Scotland, and that the United States is not an English-speaking country. She was also criticized by the tabloid press during her time at Big Brother's house for treason and the night when she vomited drunk and naked.

2003-06: Early fame and Sky Living series

Goody appeared on his own reality TV show and, on a regular basis, in celebrity women's magazines, trivia and gossip-oriented like Heat and OK! . He participated in the 2006 London Marathon but was not completed (collapsed after 34 km (21 mi) of 42,195 kilometers (26,219 mi) only), and recovered overnight at Royal London Hospital. Before the marathon, Goody explained his preparations to TV chef Gordon Ramsay: "I've eaten curry, Chinese, and drink." He said afterwards, "I do not really understand miles, I do not really know how far it will be... I do not want to disappoint everyone." Goody raised Ã, Â £ 565.20 to his chosen charity, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

On February 16, 2004, Goody enters the House Back to Reality on Channel 5. Serial, similar to Big Brother, shows contestants from other reality shows like Big Sister and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Get Out of Here! . He was evicted on the 20th day.

In 2005, Goody created and introduced his own fragrance (Shh...) with Jigsaw ESL distributor, which gives Superdrug exclusive rights. Shh... became the third best-selling scent of Superdrug, behind Kylie Minogue and Victoria Beckham. On May 2, 2006, Jade: My Autobiography was published.

2007-08: Celebrity Big Brother 5

On January 5, 2007 Goody, her boyfriend Jack Tweed and her mother entered the home for Celebrity Big Brother 5. He has just been ranked 25th in the Heat poll of the world's most influential people, with a lifetime income of Ã, Â £ 8 million. Goody was told that he and his family (later joined Jermaine Jackson, Shilpa Shetty and Ken Russell) would live luxuriously in the main house, with eight remaining celebrities living in the next house as their servants. He was not informed that he and his new family were facing eviction in which the public chose whom to guard. Goody's mother was first evicted, on January 10, 2007.

A number of complaints were received by British broadcaster Ofcom about Jo O'Meara, Danielle Lloyd and Goody's behavior against housemate Shilpa Shetty. On January 20, Ofcom received over 44,500 complaints from the public (a note at the time), and Channel 4 received an additional 3,000 complaints.

Among Goody's sayings is, "I have seen how he enters and exits the people arseholes" and Shetty "makes his skin crawl". He is also called Shetty "Shilpa Fuckawalla" and "Shilpa Poppadom". Other, the alleged incidents of unbroadcast racism, including the late-night limerick game between O'Meara, Lloyd, Goody and Tweed where the word "Paki" is implied but not said. Goody allegedly wondered if Lloyd was using "Kata-P", and referred to Shetty as "Shilpa Pashwa whoever you were looking for".

The incident sparked international condemnation, received widespread coverage in Indian media (where Gordon Brown, then Chancellor of Great Britain, at the time). Brown condemned the program for damaging the impression of Britain as a tolerant country. In a Jan. 17 statement, Channel 4 defended the program against allegations of "excessive racism or racial harassment".

Goody was kicked out of Big Brother's house on January 19, 2007, receiving 82 percent of the vote when he fought Shetty. Channel 4 prevented crowds from gathering outside the home, and canceled his scheduled press conference. In an interview with Davina McCall shortly afterwards, Goody said he was "sick of himself" after seeing alleged bullying videos. The much-publicized return to Big Brother's house was called a "terrible decision" by Max Clifford's publicist: "It looks like he has destroyed a very lucrative career". Currently Goody is a supporter of anti-bullying measures, the Law Against Oppression, which dropped him. In an interview with Goody Star, Goody said that her harassment of Shetty smashed the image of the girl next to her.

Although Shetty made no formal complaints about racist behavior with Big Brother, his allegations forced the police to investigate the possible classification of his treatment as "racial hatred" under Part III of the Public Order Act of 1986. In a statement, the police Hertfordshire says that

... investigate alleged racist behavior at Big Brother's home and will conduct an investigation, including a recording review. We will continue to be in contact with Ofcom and with Endemol, whom we are strongly encouraged to ensure that any form of behavior that may cause similar concerns does not occur. We will continue to monitor the situation for the next few days. Hertfordshire Constabulary will not tolerate racism in any form and take this charge seriously. The officer had experience investigating and completing the incident at Big Brother's house last season.

According to a Channel 4 spokesperson, Big Brother intervened so that the contestants would "realize that what they say has been misconstrued at home". The idea, he says, is to allow housemates "to explain themselves" to fellow contestants. This was followed by a series of apologies to Shetty from a housemate, and his belief that Goody is not racist: "I do not feel any racial discrimination from the end of Jade... I think there is a lot of insecurity from the end of his life but it is definitely not racial." However, Shetty is unaware of all alleged insults (often made behind her back). Channel 4 was reprimanded by Ofcom, who received more than 54,000 complaints, for handling the scandal.

Initially Goody denied that his comment was racist: "He is Indian, think of Indian names and the only thing I can think of is Indian food, not at all racial, that does not offend the Indians out there." On his next trip to India he apologized for his behavior, admitting that his comments to Shetty could be seen as racist. In a video on the BBC News website, Goody said:

I know that things that I think are not always racist... can... And I sincerely apologize for the pain and pain I caused to the Shilpa family. I was wrong... I was wrong and I knew that my words and actions were wrong and I was not trying to justify that in any way - I was wrong, and the people who complained were not wrong. They were just insulted by me and I really accepted the criticism.

Goody entered the house on August 17, saying in his video footage that the incident with Shetty was "in the past" and he "was not proud of it". Two days into the event he was diagnosed with cervical cancer and immediately resigned, flying home to England. The scene of Goody who studied his diagnosis was not broadcast in India.

Personal life

Goody has two sons. In 2006 he started a relationship with Jack Tweed, who appeared with him on Celebrity Big Brother. In June 2007, she suffered a miscarriage. After the allegations of Tweed's infidelity, they disbanded, then reconciliation. Tweed lives with Goody and his sons in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, until his imprisonment for an attack in December 2006 that actually hurt a 16-year-old boy. Disease

Goody had a number of health fears during the 2000s. In 2002 (shortly before his appearance Big Brother 3 ) the cervical smear test revealed abnormal cells, a possible indicator of cancer. She was tested for ovarian cancer in 2004 and colon cancer in 2006, with negative results for each. Goody underwent a hospital test in early August 2008, after his fourth cancer was frightened; he has fallen four times. On August 19, when she was on the Indian reality show Bigg Boss, Goody was told that the test results confirmed cervical cancer. According to his spokesman, "It looks like the cancer is in its early stages but we have to wait until he returns to England and sees a specialist and has more tests."

On September 1, 2008, Goody reported that cancer "advanced and life-threatening" and he will undergo surgery followed by chemotherapy. The doctor gave him a 65 percent chance of survival. Further tests and radical hysterectomy "go well", according to his publicist, and Goody started chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In an interview with Irish broadcaster RTÃÆ' â € °, Goody said he had started planning his funeral, lost his hair and decided not to explain his illness to his children, ages 4 and 5 at the time.

On February 4, 2009, Goody's publicist, Max Clifford, confirmed that his cancer had spread to his liver, intestines and crotch. Opportunity to survive the previous 40 percent was withdrawn, and he began treatment to prolong his life. On February 7, Clifford reported that Goody underwent emergency surgery in London to remove a tumor in his intestine.

On February 14, Clifford confirmed media reports that doctors at Royal Marsden Hospital in London had classified his cancer as a terminal; he could die within a few weeks, and least likely to survive more than a few months: "He was told yesterday that tragically, he was seriously ill, he was obviously devastated." Goody then began to draw up a will and plan for the care of his two sons.

On March 5 at Royal Marsden Hospital, Goody was asked to be baptized; two days later, he and his son were baptized. Clifford confirmed that this was his last appearance in public, and he had already said goodbye to his family: "We hope and pray that Jade can do it, but the fact is that he now has only a short time to live." He confirmed that for 24 Hours forward his doctor can assess how long Goody should live, but he has a very short time left in any case. Jack Tweed was allowed to extend his curfew, spending the last night with his wife before he said goodbye to the rest of his family.

When word spreads that Goody cancer is a terminal, medical authorities in the UK are beginning to report a surge in demand from women (especially younger women) for cervical cancer screening. This reverses a trend that has seen demand for screening decline over the past decade, with the biggest decline among women aged 25-29.

As a result of the publicity surrounding Goody's disease, on March 13, 2009 the government's health minister agreed to review the National Health Service's policy of not filtering cervical cancer until age 25 in the UK (age 20 in the rest of the UK). That day, he issued a press release that he was "very proud" had encouraged the review.

Death

Goody died in his sleep during the early hours of March 22, 2009; he reports the timing of death varies by source. Her mother, husband, and family friend Kevin Adams was at her bedside when she died, Goody's death was widely covered by British media, and the BBC was criticized for its extensive coverage of the disease. Corporations later acknowledge on their Newswatch program, which on reflection, their coverage has been excessive. Shilpa Shetty, who had many confrontations with Jade when they were both at Celebrity Big Brother, visited Goody a few days before her death and made amends.

Goody receives tribute from all walks of life. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said, "She is a brave woman in both life and death and the whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children." His funeral service took place on the afternoon of April 4 at St. John's Anglican Church, Buckhurst Hill, Essex, and later that day he was buried near his home in Epping Forest. The cemetery crater consists of 21 cars, one of which is the Bentley used by the family. Some celebrities, including David and Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell, sent flowers, and Davina McCall, Jamelia and Antony Costa were among the mourners. Goody's coffin is white; she is buried in her wedding dress with two pictures, one from each of her sons, by her side. His children did not attend the funeral; their father took them to Australia.

Thousands of mourners followed the funeral ceremony on the big screen outside the church. It was broadcast live on Sky News, which followed the services from outside since Goody wanted a private ceremony for friends and family.

Legacy

Tributes

Sky Living aired five awards to Goody, documenting his early life, fame and final months, from 2009 to 2012. The last episode of Big Brother on Channel 4 featured a 15-minute tribute, praising him for being the ultimate Big Brother contestant.

In April 2009 Digital Spy called Goody the "best reality TV star", and plans were announced for Jade the Musical. That month Michael Parkinson wrote that Goody had belonged to the media "to be manipulated and exploited until the day he died", representing "all that trivial and unfortunate about England". On December 29, 2009 The Independent reported that according to the tribute site, Goody was the most mourning celebrity of 2009 and received more awards than Michael Jackson. The premiere of Big Brother 10 is dedicated to her memory, and the award is featured in the final episode of Ultimate Big Brother .

Awareness of cervical cancer

Goody's funeral, spokeswoman for Cancer Research UK said:

The story of Jade has raised awareness of cervical cancer that has caused hundreds of thousands of people to contact Cancer Research UK for information on the disease as the number of hits to our website, CancerHelp.org shows. Her legacy will help save lives.

In October 2009 it was reported that the number of women between 25 and 64 who had a Pap test in the UK had increased by 12 percent over the previous year, an increase (after years of decline since 2002) was credited to Goody's public battle with cervical cancer. Sky News health correspondent Thomas Moore said:

This is a remarkable flip for the NHS screening program. Jade Goody has a special impact on the women the NHS strives to reach - the young and the less educated. The challenge for today's public health physicians is to ensure that these increases are maintained, so Jade has a long-lasting legacy.

According to Health Minister Andy Burnham, "Jade's courage and openness in his fight against cervical cancer has brought home to young women across the country the importance of regularly conducting these checks." Gordon Brown said, "His family can be very proud of the work he has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer that will benefit thousands of women across the UK."
