The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is a charity organization dedicated to multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. MMRF runs as if it is a nonprofit business, expecting a high return on the organization's money from donors.

Histori
MMRF was founded in 1998 by twin sisters Kathy Giusti and Karen Andrews, following Kathy's diagnosis with multiple myeloma. Giusti, a pharmaceutical company executive and Harvard Alum Business School, wants to encourage researchers to develop treatments for multiple myeloma using a business model rather than an academic model of drug development.

About MMRF
MMRF is a private funder for multiple myeloma research, which has raised more than $ 120 million since its inception to contribute funding to more than 120 laboratories around the world. MMRF funding contributes to a wide range of research strategies to produce long-term, medium- and short-term outcomes in an effort to provide better patient care more quickly: basic science programs to better understand the disease and identify new burnt targets through genomic research and proteomics; a validation program to prioritize new compounds and combinations based on primary targets; and clinical trials were performed in a number of myeloma centers.
In 2009, the MMRF funded the research into 30 compounds at the pre-clinical stage. By 2013, it has raised more than $ 250 million and its work has helped get approval of six new drugs to treat the disease.
