Mark Adam Hyman is an American physician and The New York Times bestselling author. She is the founder and medical director of the UltraWellness Center and a columnist for The Huffington Post. Hyman is a regular contributor to the Katie Couric Show .
Hyman is a supporter of functional medicine; he is chairman of the Institute for Functional Medicine. She is the editor-in-chief and editor who contributes to Alternative Therapy in Health and Medicine, a peer-reviewed medical journal focused on functional medicine.

Education
Hyman graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Ottawa and completed graduate studies at the University of California, San Francisco program in family medicine at Santa Rosa Community Hospital.

Careers
Hyman started his medical career as a family doctor in rural Idaho and later as an emergency doctor in Massachusetts. He was a co-medical director at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Massachusetts, from 1996 to 2004. He opened the UltraWellness medical center at Lenox after leaving Canyon Ranch.
In 2009, Hyman testified before the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on integrative medical care. Hyman also participated in the Partners In Health program to bring medical care to Haiti after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
In December 2013, The Daniel Plan , a book Hyman wrote with Pastor Rick Warren and Daniel Amen, became number 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Hyman is the author of several books on nutrition and health, such as 10 Days Detox Diet. Hyman was named Director of the Cleveland Clinical Center for Functional Medicine in September 2014.
In April 2016, Hyman joined environmental activists and civil rights leaders to call for a federal investigation into the US fluoridation policy, writing that colored people have special risks to adverse health effects.
Hyman is a medical advisor for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
