History
Mark Ridley first opened Comedy Castle on January 4, 1979, in the basement of Bloomfield Hills restaurant, Michigan. Ridley created three sets of comics (show host, feature player, and headliner) to organize events and stage better every night after watching endless rows of players in Los Angeles clubs like The Improv and The Comedy Store, making Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle one of they. the first clubs in the country to do so. During the first 11 years of club existence, it changed the location six times. In 1990, The Comedy Castle assigned a permanent location, 400 seats, at the Royal Oak. This is the oldest operating comedy club in Michigan.

Philanthropy
Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle organizes several charity events for a small fee, allowing organizations to set ticket prices for their fundraising. Every year, however, Comedy Castle donates space, food from Garden Fresh Salsa, and underwrites performances along with the Michigan Financial Company to The Salvation Army Bed and Bread Club, where they collect about $ 40,000 annually. Other benefits include the American Cancer Society, Baby Death Eve, Bank Furniture Southeast Michigan, South Oakland Homeless Residence, Common Ground Shelter, Guardians for Animals, and the Royal Oak Police Officer Association, among many others. All results go to the charity.
Television
The Comedy Castle has hosted several television specials, including Showtime Comedy Club Network, Comic Relief HBO, Comedy A & amp; E on the Road with John Byner, and Comcast Comedy Spotlight. In 1991, Comedy Castle Mark Ridley produced and hosted the Emmy Award "Funny Side of the Street", a local variety show featuring Tim Allen.
Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle promotes the recording of Kathleen Madigan's 2013 comedy "Madigan Again", which was filmed at the Royal Oak Music Theater.
Comedy Festival
Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle hosted the first Detroit International Comedy Festival in 2008. The following year, Mark Ridley produced and filmed the Detroit International Comedy Festival for theatrical and home broadcasts. In 2010, Lewis Black succeeded and led the festival. The Comedy Castle also produces Laugh-a-Palooza every year, featuring many comedians to come from across the United States and Canada.
In addition to the comedy festival, Mark Ridley Comedy Castle also hosts stand-up comedy classes for those who want to learn about writing jokes, performing in front of the audience, and working in clubs. Local comedian Bill Bushart, called Metro Times "Detroit Best Comedian 2010," teaches classes.

A month after opening the door, Tim Allen walked onstage for the first time. For years, Comedy Castle is Allen's home club. By 2015, Allen confesses to stealing tiles from the original Comedy Castle floor at Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Mark Ridley's first Comedy Castle comedy cast is Mike Binder, then tries to come out as a stand-up comedian. He lived in Los Angeles at the time and called Mark Ridley to ask if he could become the main head Comedy Castle. Comedians and other famous players who started their careers at Comedy Castle were Paul Feig, J. Chris Newberg, and Dax Shepard. Comedian and actor Bob Saget is the main character at Comedy Castle, where he meets with future comrades of stars, Dave Coulier, a great comedian and regular leader in Detroit.
In 1996, Bill Engvall recorded his comedy debut album "Here Your Sign" at Comedy Castle, followed by his second album "Dorkfish" in 1998. Both albums were certified gold and platinum.
The only club that comedian Kathleen Madigan will be working out on a theater tour is normally Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle.
