Lancaster General Health is a small health system in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1893 in a small house on Queen Street, the hospital now stands at a 590-bed facility located at 555 North Duke Street in Lancaster. The campus includes major facilities, Lancaster General Hospital, in addition to two smaller centers: Women & amp; Baby Hospital at 690 Good Drive and Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital at 675 Good Drive.
The hospital is managed by the Lancaster General Health System, which includes physician and outpatient practices throughout Lancaster County. Lancaster General Hospital offers a range of health services including inpatient, outpatient, primary and special care from open heart surgery to oncology, acute and traumatic care and pediatric services in partnership with Penn State Hershey's Children's Hospital
This is one of the elite group of "Best of the Benchmark Hospitals" - an institution that has achieved 100 Top Hospital awards for seven of the last nine years. The hospital has been recognized as a Magnet facility for nursing excellence and has received the HealthGradesî Distinguished Hospital Award for Patient Safety. Lancaster General Hospital was also named the "Best Hospital" by the US. News & amp; World Report for heart surgery, orthopedics, urology, hormonal and ear diseases, nose & amp; throat.
Lancaster General Hospital has adopted the EPIC model because it contains EMR systems throughout the organization. This popular initiative is aimed at better patient care.
