Vassar Brothers Medical Center (locally known as Vassar Hospital or VBMC) is a premier medical facility located in the city of Poughkeepsie, New York which is a member of the Health Quest network, a non-profit hospital hospital and wellness center in the Hudson Valley area. VBMC is one of two major medical centers located in Dutchess County, New York, the other being the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. The hospital was first established in 1882 under the name Vassar Brothers Hospital, following contributions made by John Guy Vassar after the death of his brother. The hospital opened its doors in 1887, and originally had 40 beds divided into four wards, each containing ten beds. At the time of the opening of the hospital there were also labor and delivery wards, children's wards, nursery, three private rooms, and two isolation rooms. Some major renovations occurred in 1983, 1991, and 2001; adding critical care areas, new operating and delivery wings, and cancer treatment centers, respectively. In 2002 Vassar Brothers Hospital officially became Vassar Brothers Medical Center. In September 2016, VBMC announced a new $ 500 million expansion that would almost double the number of available rooms. Construction on expansion is expected to be completed by 2019.
VBMC also operates a satellite health center called Vassar Brother Medical Mall in the town of Fishkill, New York. Located at Westage Medical Mall, VBMC and its construction partners, Westage Companies, each have about half of the Medical Mall buildings. Services offered at the Mall include radiation oncology, surgery on the same day, his speech pathology, and female imaging.

The total cost for development is $ 4.2 million. Dyson Breast Center has two units of 3D mammography for use in the Breast Center, separate from the Cancer Treatment Center. Dr Angela Keleher, director of the Dyson Breast Center, said the new 3D unit "[decreases] the need to call patients back for additional checks and [increases] cancer detection rates."
