Someone who invested Rs.101 (about US $ 6 at the time) in the scheme only once in their life gets treatment, travel, and other expenses during treatment if they get cancer. As a consequence of the closure of the CCL Rs.101/- scheme per policy holder, the new CCL project Rs.500/- per policy was launched during 1993. the current Kerala government provides free treatment to poor patients from Kerala, so the CCL scheme stops.
