Kanker

Siever stores blogs and podcasts, called My Cancer, on the NPR website; blogs dealt with his struggle with metastatic colon cancer, with which he was diagnosed in 2006. This blog consists of Sievers thinking about his illness, as well as updates on his treatment and every scan and test he undergoes. His blog developed a large community of people who are currently diagnosed with cancer and cancer patients, as well as their families and loved ones, many of whom regularly comment on Sievers posts, often offering him love messages, support, and thanks for has been so open sharing his experience on his blog.

On June 9, 2008, Sievers announced that his latest scan had found a new tumor in his brain, shoulder blades, liver, pelvis and lungs. Leroy plans to target tumors in her brain and pelvis first, though it seems that she has run out of treatment options.

On August 12, 2008, Sievers wrote on his blog that he and his wife had decided to pursue home care treatments, which would allow others to help manage what was left of his life. Sievers died August 15, 2008.
