ICD-10 is an international statistical classification used in health care and related industries.
Manufactured by the World Health Organization, used in several countries around the world. Some have developed their own national enhancements, building an international version of the classification.
Chapter II of ICD-10 deals with neoplastic conditions; such as cancer, carcinoma in situ, and benign tumors. Precancerous conditions, such as vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia, are classified into chapters of the body system.
The codes set forth in Chapter II have been further enhanced by the Independent Classification of Disease Classification for Oncology (ICD-O).
(Note: topographic ICD-10 and ICD-O codes are usually the same, but C42 is used in ICD-O but not ICD-10.)
