David Allen Ogden Stiers ( STY -? rz ; October 31, 1942 - March 3, 2018) is an American actor, voice actor and conductor. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Stiers mainly grew up in Oregon. He attended the University of Oregon before enrolling at Juilliard School in New York City, from where he graduated in 1972. He went on to perform in many productions on Broadway, and began Feldman's role at The Magic Show where he appeared for four years between 1974 and 1978.

In 1977 he served as Major Charles Emerson Winchester III on the television series M * A * S * H â€‹â€‹Ã¢ â‚¬ <Ã¢ â‚¬ , a role he would portray to the conclusion of the series in 1983, and which made him earned two Emmy Award nominations. He appeared prominently in 1980 in the role of District Attorney Michael Reston on Perry Mason television, and voiced a number of Disney characters during the 1990s and 2000s, notably Cogsworth in 1991 Beauty and the Beast , Governor Ratcliffe and Wiggins in 1995 Pocahontas , and Dr. Jumba Jookiba in 2002 Lilo & amp; Stitch and the sequel. She appeared on television again in the supernatural drama series The Dead Zone as Reverend Gene Purdy, a role she described from 2002 to 2007.

Stiers has continued to contribute his voice work to film and television production in his later years, telling M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water (2006) and has a recurring role in the animated series Regular Show >. Stiers spent his last years as a conductor of the Newport Symphony Orchestra. He died at his home in Newport, Oregon of bladder cancer on March 3, 2018.

During his studies, Stiers was guided by actor John Houseman, who later became a member of the Town Development Center.

Initial acting credit

Stiers first appeared in the Broadway production of The Magic Show in 1974 in the small role of Feldman. This was followed by several other Broadway productions, including The Three Sisters and The Beggar's Opera. Subsequent loans included roles in the Mary Tyler Moore Show , Kojak and Rhoda television series. Stiers also appeared on the Charlie's Angels pilot as a backup team head.

In 1977 Stiers joined the cast of CBS sitcom M * A * S * H â€‹â€‹Ã¢ â‚¬ <Ã¢ â‚¬ <. As Major Charles Emerson Winchester III, Stiers filled the void created by the departure of Frank Burns actor Larry Linville's character. Unlike the fanatical Burns, Winchester is a talented and talented surgeon who presents different foil types for Alan Alda's Hawkeye Pierce and Mike Farrell's B.J. Hunnicutt. It also hosts over 70 orchestras around the world, including Mozart Oregon Players, Vancouver Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Oregon Room Players, and Yaquina (Oregon) Orchestra, as well as orchestras in San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto.
