Thomas Carvey's Fund (born June 2, 1955) is an American actor and stand-up comedian, best known for his work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (1986-1993) and to star as Garth Algar in the movie Wayne's World.

He is best known for his impersonation of George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot on Saturday Live Live and depicts the original SNL characters of The Church Lady and Hans of Hans and Franz.

Carvey was born in Missoula, Montana, son of Billie Dahl, a schoolteacher, and Bud Carvey, a high school business teacher. Carvey is brother Brad Carvey, engineer/designer of Video Toaster. He attended Tierra Linda Junior High in San Carlos, Carlmont High School in Belmont, California (where he was a member of the Central Coast Section cross-country championship team), College of San Mateo in San Mateo, California, and received his bachelor degree in broadcast communication from San Francisco State University.

Careers

Initial career

Carvey had a minor role in Halloween II in 1981, and starred in One of the Boys in 1982, a short-lived television comedy also starring Mickey Rooney, Nathan Lane , and Meg Ryan. In 1984, Carvey had a small role in Rob Reiner's movie, This Is Spinal Tap, where he played pantomime, with fellow comedian Billy Crystal (who told him "Mime is money!"). Saturday Night Live

In 1986, Carvey became a household name when he joined the cast of NBC Saturday Night Live . He, along with newcomers Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealon, Jan Hooks, and Victoria Jackson, helped reverse the popularity of the show's decline and made SNL's "must-see" TV once more. An important part of the revival of the show is the Carvey, Lady Church, escaping, pompous, and godly escapist characters. Personal life

In 1979, while performing at The Other Cafe in San Francisco, Carvey met with Paula Zwagerman. They got engaged in 1981 and married in 1983. The couple had two children, Dex and Thomas Carvey.

In 1997, Carvey underwent cardiac bypass surgery for blocked coronary arteries, but surgeons operated the wrong arteries.
